City Council seeks residents to serve on new Richmond Civilian Review Board

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond City Council is seeking residents of the city to serve on a new Richmond Civilian Review Board.
According to the Richmond City Council, the Richmond Civilian Review Board will be made up of eight members who will serve three-year terms.
The board aims to be a significant part of reviewing, investigating and making recommendations to Richmond City Council, the Mayor and the Chief of Police on internal Richmond Police Department investigations.
Richmond City Council said the work will help directly to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Applicants are required to be:
A resident of the City of Richmond
Cannot be a current or previous law enforcement member
Cannot have a family member or household member who has held a law enforcement position
Cannot be in pending litigation with the City of Richmond
Be dedicated to justice, fairness and community engagement
Those who are interested in serving on the Richmond Civilian Review Board are invited to submit applications by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30.
