CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – It has quickly become an Independence Day tradition along the South Carolina coast. Military planes will fly overhead during the annual ‘Salute from the Shore’ as beachgoers from Cherry Grove down to Beaufort cheer on our military personnel on the July 4 holiday. The flyover will include beaches along the Charleston coast. F-16s from McEntire Joint National Guard Base, C-17s from Joint Base Charleston, and vintage planes have participated in past events. 8 places to watch Fourth of July fireworks in the Charleston area People headed out to the beach are encouraged to bring American flags and wave them as planes go by.
