LULING, Texas (KXAN) — A fire broke out Monday morning in Luling, Texas, at the original Buc-ee's travel center, authorities said. Units from 14 agencies responded to assist with putting out the fire. Photos posted by emergency officials show the building was heavily damaged in the blaze. According to the Caldwell County Office of Emergency Management, the structure fire occurred in the area of Interstate 10 and Highway 183. The Southeast Caldwell County VFD said it was called to help with the fire and confirmed it was at the old Buc-ee's location. The old Buc-ee's building was opened in 2003, and was the first Buc-ee’s travel center for the brand, according to the company. Just last month, a new Buc-ee's travel center opened in Luling in the same area, replacing the old location. This confused some on social media. "Despite the sign and some information you may have seen, the fire is NOT the new Buc-ee’s travel stop," the Caldwell County OEM clarified. The new location is currently the largest Buc-ee's in the country. RELATED: Largest Buc-ee’s in the country opens in Central Texas Officials said the fire was put out quickly. There is no word yet on what started the fire.
