SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Santa Fe Fire Department has launched a Wildfire Preparedness Awareness Campaign aimed at getting residents ready for potential wildfires. As part of the campaign, the fire department is conducting a free home assessment for homeowners to discuss any needed mitigation on their property to help prevent a wildfire or slow one down. Also included in the campaign: Focus landscaping on xeriscaping to reduce dry vegetation on property. Become familiar with "Ready, Set, Go!" Have a Go Bag easily accessible and ready to deploy if the event is needed. Know your evacuation routes. If possible, have an evacuation plan set up and make family members know of the possible intention if the event happens. Sign up for Alert Santa Fe. To set up a free home assessment, contact Wildland Urban Interface Specialist Porfirio Chavarria by phone or email at pnchavarria@santafenm.gov or 505-660-3732 to set up a one-on-one appointment.
