MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A robbery in Olive Branch City Park led to a police chase and a suspect's arrest after a crash on Goodman Road. Police in Olive Branch, Mississippi said they received a call about a robbery in the park at 6:14 a.m. Monday. The victim was able to give police a detailed description of the suspect and his vehicle. Officers found that vehicle and began a pursuit, which ended in the suspect crashing at 9815 Goodman Road. Rakeem Jaquise Woodley, 26, of Olive Branch, was arrested and is charged with "robbery, motor vehicle felony taking, and several other lesser charges," police said. Rakeem Woodley Woodley also has prior felony arrests in his home state of Wisconsin, police said. Police said there was no weapon involved in the robbery, but the suspect led the victim to believe their life was in danger. Based on that, police say they will seek the maximum sentence in this case. "We don't really experience things like that here in Olive Branch," resident Marilyn Thomas-Burks said. "It's always good to have a safe place outside of home and just relax, take a walk for your health, children can play, grandchildren can play." However, another Olive Branch woman told WREG that things aren't as quiet as they used to be. "We've got more going on lately than we used to," Morgan Akers said. "But it's just surprising to me that it's getting there." That's why Akers said that when it comes to protecting her children, she thinks twice before going anywhere even if she does feel safe. I remember I grew up in Memphis and we lived on Shelby Drive and I used to be able to go out and play in my front yard by myself, I walked home from school, my parents worked," Akers said. "Now, like thinking of that in Olive Branch, I don't even let them go outside by themselves."
