FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A southeast Fort Wayne home was damaged in a fire Monday. The flames ignited just before 2 p.m. in the 3700 block of Clermont Avenue, in a neighborhood off Wayne Trace near McKinnie Avenue. In a release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department, firefighters arrived, within five minutes of the initial call, to find smoke and fire coming from the home. While working to put out the fire, firefighters searched the home and found that the fire was concentrated in a bedroom that had an extension into the attic. The firefighters were able to get the fire under control within 10 minutes. No one was inside at the time, FWFD said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
