Are any fireworks legal in Colorado Springs?
Jul 01, 2024
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — As the 4th of July approaches, many are getting amped to celebrate in purely American style--boisterous and proud. And while fireworks are usually part of that tradition, the Colorado Springs Fire Department is reminding locals that the public shows are put on by professionals, and all other fireworks are illegal in the city.
The main reason for firework restrictions is fire safety, according to CSFD. Nine different fireworks shows are scheduled throughout the city, and those shows have been approved by the Fire Marshal. Your uncle Marshal in the driveway with a sparkler? Not approved.

CSFD explained that each of the public fireworks displays go through a rigorous process in order to be approved by the Fire Marshal. In addition, each show has a CSFD inspector on site to ensure safety prior to each display, and throughout the show.
With high fire danger, all it takes is a single spark landing in just the right fuels, and your 4th of July celebrations could lead to evacuations, property damage, or worse.

Firework restrictions may feel like a Debbie-downer, but that doesn't mean your festivities have to be entirely dull. Certain items are okay to use if you would like to celebrate at home, such as party poppers, party streamers, silly string, and party snaps. Sparklers are not permitted in Colorado Springs.
