UPDATE: MONDAY 7/1/2024 3:56 p.m. (FLORISSANT, Colo.) — The U.S. Forest Service reported that the Round Mountain Fire was 100% contained on Monday, July 1. The fire remained at .10 acres and did not spread. Crews were able to contain the fire as of 3:30 p.m. on July 1. ORIGINAL HEADLINE: Fire in Park County sparked by lightning Fire crews are battling a fire near Lake George in Florissant on Monday, July 1. The current location of the fire is in Park County, South Park Road, which is seven miles northwest of Florissant. The fire was caused by lighting and is one-tenth of an acre in size. U.S Forest Service According to the U.S. Forest Service, crews have hiked into the fire and are actively engaging in suppressing it. The fire is creeping and has a low rate of spread.
