INDIANAPOLIS – A man was found shot to death inside a vehicle on the near southeast side early Monday morning. Indianapolis Metropolitan police officers were dispatched around 4:55 a.m. to the 2600 block of E. Minnesota Street. Police found a male inside a silver vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. "It's just tragic. The gun violence, we don't want to see that in our communities," said Tommy Thompson, a public information officer for IMPD. "It's early morning, Monday, the first day of the July, and this family is going to be hurting." Crime lab technicians and homicide detectives were at the scene to look for evidence and talk to people who live nearby. Thompson said the area where the shooting happened was in the middle of a revitalization effort and was not "typically an area of concern" when it came to police runs. Thompson didn't have any information about a suspect or suspects. The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS (8477)
