By Lucas Nava and Katherine Quezada A brush fire, dubbed the Indigo Fire, broke out near the intersection of Barcelona Road and Capri Court in Castaic and grew to a total of 22 acres on Sunday afternoon, according to the L.A. County Fire Department.  “That’s a second-alarm fire,” said Dispatch Capt. Queen, who declined to provide his first name. A second-alarm or two-alarm fire refers to a blaze that requires more resources, such as fire engines or air support, than a one-alarm fire.  The fire initially broke out at 12:36 p.m. and grew from 2 acres during initial reports at about 1:30 p.m., according to Queen, to 22 acres by the time it was knocked down.   The fire, which burned near Castaic Middle School, quickly made its way over the hill going toward homes in a cul-de-sac on Barcelona Road and Capri Court.   While no structures were immediately threatened, a few residents who would be directly impacted by the fire voluntarily evacuated as a precaution while firefighters were positioned in the neighborhood to keep the fire away from houses.  Multiple engines and helicopters responded to the incident and curious residents made their way outside in the heat to witness firefighters fight the blaze.   Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station assisted first responders with road closures and evacuations if they became necessary and the Search and Rescue team was also ready to assist when needed, said Deputy Robert Jensen, a spokesman with the station.   Despite the fire creeping up very close to structures and Castaic Middle School, no structures were damaged, and no injuries were reported.   The post Indigo Fire burns 22 acres in Castaic  appeared first on Santa Clarita Valley Signal.
