WEATHER ALERT: Severe thunderstorms in western Massachusetts Sunday

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The 22News Storm Team has issued a Weather Alert for Sunday afternoon and evening for the potential of strong to severe thunderstorms.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect in Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, and Berkshire counties until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening.
Massachusetts rainfall amount exceeds June average
Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy on Sunday and there will be the chance for showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon. Some storms could be strong to severe with heavy rain, damaging winds, hail, and frequent lightning. It will be a very warm and humid day with highs in the mid to upper 80s.
Showers and storms will end Sunday evening and skies will gradually clear out overnight. Lows will be around 60 degrees.
We'll have a mix of sun and clouds on Monday with a slight chance for an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be around 80 degrees.
Tuesday will give some much-needed sunshine with highs in the low to mid-80s.
