SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The Furniture Mission of South Dakota helps people in need get free furniture and household items. The non-profit typically serves Sioux Falls and the surrounding towns. But after devastating flooding, it's lending a helping hand across state lines. "It's never been done for the Furniture Mission of South Dakota, but Midwest nice is a real big thing here at the Furniture Mission," Furniture Mission Executive Director and CEO Janean Michalov said. The non-profit is taking steps to help northwest Iowa towns affected by flooding. Frustration with communication at McCook Lake The non-profit is also helping flood victims in South Dakota and expects to serve Minnesotans too. That's why the Furniture Mission needs your gently used donations to help supply families with furniture. The organization is always in need of mattresses and box springs, but that's not all. "We need your couches, dressers, end tables, dishes, pots and pans, house decor, things of that nature," Furniture Mission Board VP Dustin Hansen said. You can drop off your donations at the Furniture Mission in Sioux Falls or you can schedule a pickup. "Making sure that families feel the love and feel the warmth when there's so much chaos in their lives is really why the Furniture Mission exists.
