ELMORE, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont Governor Phil Scott says he is hoping Thursday night’s presidential debate provides more substance than sparks. The first presidential debate of the election season kicks off Thursday at 9 p.m. EST.During a press conference Thursday, the governor -- who endorsed Nikki Haley in the GOP primary -- says the last debate between Biden and Trump was not a proud moment for the country and that he’s not sure what to expect tonight.“I’m hoping for better tonight. They have some control on the interruptions and so forth. Hopefully, it’s respectful, civil, and actually maybe focuses on the issues at hand, but that remains to be seen,” Scott said.Just like 2020, Scott says he does not plan to vote for Trump.
