RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A Richmond man will compete in the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games after earning a spot on the USA Swimming Olympic Team. Charlie Swanson, 26, of Richmond, will compete in the 100-meter Breaststroke at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games after qualifying in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials held in Indianapolis, Indiana. (Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images) Swanson is a 2020 graduate of the University of Michigan, where he majored in Economics with a minor in Entrepreneurship. Before his collegiate endeavors, he was a student at St. Christopher's School in Richmond, graduating in 2016. During his time at the University of Michigan, Swanson earned several awards and honorable mentions, including All-American status four times in 2020. Swanson was a member of many local swimming clubs throughout his athletic career including the Richmond Racers, Poseidon Swimming and NOVA of Virginia Aquatics, which he continues to represent. He has competed in the NCAA Championships during all four years at the University of Michigan. Swanson will head into the Olympics with multiple world championships experience, including his most recent in 2022 for the 200-meter Breaststroke. The 2024 Paris Olympics will begin on Friday, July 26 and continue through Sunday, August 11.
