HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Hanover County will celebrate 15 residents who are older than 100 years or will be turning 100 later this year. The Hanover County Department of Community Resources, along with the Board of Supervisors, will hold its second annual centenarian celebration from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, May 10, at the Covenant Woods' Lodge Building, located at 7090 Covenant Woods Drive. This year, the event will recognize 15 Hanover residents who meet the criteria. According to a spokesperson for the event, seven alumni from last year will be in attendance, and the oldest attendee will turn 104 in July. The Covenant Woods' Creaky Crooners will perform a special rendition of "Happy Birthday" and the Board of Supervisors members will then present framed certificates to honorees. A catered lunch and birthday cake will follow the ceremony.
