BARRINGTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Police announced Wednesday that a teen was arrested in Barrington for allegedly assaulting an elderly relative. The Barrington Police Department said detectives began a criminal investigation on May 8 focusing on a juvenile who assaulted and threatened to kill a relative 60 years of age or older. Authorities said the juvenile was arrested and transported to the Rhode Island Family Court on an emergency petition based on evidence gathered. The teen was held at the Rhode Island Training School, per officials, and the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office took over the case in Family Court.
