ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office says the charter school director accused of threatening a student with a box cutter has turned himself in. South Valley Academy Executive Director Richard Perea is facing aggravated assault and child abuse charges after a criminal complaint states he held the box cutter to the student's neck on April 18. Perea was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on Monday.
