INDIANAPOLIS – A man was doing yard work when a vehicle hit and killed him Sunday night on the west side, police say. A suspect has been arrested in connection with the case. According to the incident report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded around 8:30 p.m. Sunday to the 4100 block of West 30th Street. They discovered a vehicle struck a pedestrian; the victim suffered trauma to his head and body. After first responders provided emergency aid at the scene, he was taken to an area hospital. He later died from his injuries, police said. The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 58-year-old Mark E. Brown. IMPD said Brown was doing yard work when the crash happened, trimming weeds in his lawn. Ariel Antonio Treminio-Lopez According to the incident report, officers later arrested 36-year-old Ariel Treminio-Lopez on a preliminary charge of leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury. IMPD said community assistance helped them make the arrest. The incident remains under investigation. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case for a final charging decision.
