(WCIV) — Predicting a Donald Trump victory in November, Sen. Tim Scott declined to answer if he would accept the results of the 2024 presidential election during an interview on Sunday. Scott, a potential vice presidential for the presumptive Republican nominee, was interviewed by Kristen Welker on Meet the Press. During a discussion on Trump’s refusal to accept his defeat in 2020, Welker asked Scott if he would accept the 2024 election results, regardless of the outcome. The South Carolina senator replied, “At the end of the day, the 47th president of the United States will be President Donald Trump.” Welker repeatedly asked Scott to give a “yes” or “no” answer to her question, but Scott declined and continued to insist Trump would defeat Democratic president Joe Biden in 2024. “I’m not going to answer your hypothetical question,” Scott told Welker. “I believe the American people are speaking today on the results of the election. If it continues for the next six months, we find ourselves in a great position where we get back to another century of American prosperity. I’m looking forward to that.” Scott voted to certify Biden’s victory over Trump in the 2020 election, despite Trump’s refusal to concede.
