The 2024 HHSAA boys volleyball tournament begins on Monday with 12 teams playing for state glory. Campbell, which opens against defending state runner-up Kamehameha on Monday, brings one of the state's most intriguing squads. All the latest sports news from Hawaii's sports station The Sabers are led by the dynamic duo of Julius Momoe-Mitchell and setter Jake Rosales. Both players are putting up massive numbers, as Rosales has 448 assists and Momoe-Mitchell has 217 kills. "I think I rely on Julius the same way I rely on my passers," Rosales said. "Without those passers, I'm not getting the good sets that I have, and Julius is not getting the good kills that he has. I know in the beginning of this season it was definitely a mental game because we didn't have that trust yet. We've all been putting in the work. Said Momoe-Mitchell, a junior: "In the beginning, it wasn't as close as we are now. I'm glad we got our connection down like in the season we were. We're connected pretty good now. We all know what we want and what we want to do: Go all the way since we have a ton of seniors this year, and especially for them.
