March of Dimes, a nonprofit organization that aims to prevent birth defects and premature births, held the annual Broward March for Babies on Saturday at Nova Southeastern University. The list of co-chairs included Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and Memorial Hospital West. The list of event sponsors at the local and national levels included Publix Supermarkets, Gerber, HCA Healthcare, and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. As of Saturday evening, the Doral-based nonprofit organization had raised over $12 million nationwide. The march in Broward had raised nearly $159,000 and the Memorial Healthcare team had raised over $9,600.Lisa Thompson had the top team in Florida with about $14,230, while in Texas, Rosemary Schatzman, of Houston, had the top team in the country with nearly $217,000.
