AUSTIN (KXAN) — The sky was overcast Saturday morning with areas of fog and drizzle/mist. This morning's normal low is 64°. Actual lows were higher with several in the upper 60s to low 70s. Camp Mabry's low was 71° while the low at Austin-Bergstrom was 69°. Many rain totals of 1 to 3" since late Wednesday night Central Texas faces another couple of rounds of showers and thunderstorms. The first round arrives this evening over Lampasas, Mason and San Saba Counties. The field of strong to severe thunderstorms moves through the Hill Country onto I-35 by midnight. Strong thunderstorms could go severe late tonight Most of the storms will move into our eastern counties (Bastrop, Caldwell, Fayette, Lee, and Milam) between 12 and 3 a.m. before exiting out of Fayette County by 5 a.m. Some of these storms could go severe with large hail (the size of a quarter and larger) along with gusty winds of 58 mph and higher. The greater risk for severe storms will be across the Hill Country to our I-35 viewing area. Another round of potentially severe thunderstorms Rain totals of 1" to 2" are possible for the northwest Hill Country from late this afternoon through midnight. Most of the rest of the area will see totals of .33" up to 1'' by 7 a.m. Sunday. Flood threat continues today through tomorrow morning A second round of showers and thunderstorms arrives late tomorrow morning. By early afternoon strong thunderstorms expand moving east with periods of heavy rain possible. Sunday storms get an earlier start The storm threat for Sunday morning and afternoon is Marginal (Category 1 of 5). Lower storm risk Sunday In addition, the majority of the region will remain under a Slight risk (Category 2 of 4) for potential flooding. Continued Slight flood risk Sunday There have been three updates to the FLOOD WATCH since sunrise. The latest update (10 a.m. Saturday) includes Burnet, Lee, Llano, and Williamson Counties. Expect the other counties to also be included at some time today. Current Flood Watch Forecast rain totals during the weekend Very low rain chances pop in next week's forecast. The heat gets turned up much of next week with some high reaching the lower 90s. A cold front arrives on Friday morning leaving a northeast winds that lowers temperatures.
