ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - We were so close! Rochester made it into the upper 70s this afternoon, falling just shy of the 80° mark. Increasing clouds from the west will mark the onset of at least some chance of rain beginning this evening and lasting through much of the weekend. While that sounds less than optimal for weekend plans, I'm actually quite encouraged we'll manage to salvage a solid weekend overall. All things considered, I'd say this May 4th forecast is trending away from the dark side. pic.twitter.com/xwYCgcD3rK— Eric Snitil (@EricSnitilWx) May 3, 2024 Saturday trends have forced us to lower rain chances, the byproduct of some drier air and lack of a trigger will combine to keep a good chunk of the day dry. That will help temperatures spike well into the 60s, perhaps close to 70 degrees. As high resolution guidance comes in, we're starting to fine tune rain trends into the weekend. Trend #1: Saturday looks drier. Trend #2: Sunday looks wetter, especially early. I'm going to be pulling rain chances down Saturday & bumping up Sunday for newscasts. pic.twitter.com/JEUwrCHsKp— Eric Snitil (@EricSnitilWx) May 3, 2024 Lowering Saturday's rain chances is more of a trade, however, as we've increased them for Sunday (especially early). That's when some better forcing works through and allows for greater coverage of wet weather. Rain chances should then start to diminish later into the day
