Paul McCartney is reaching out to one special Beatles fan, 60 years after she professed her love for him in a now-famous interview. The legendary musician, 81, posted a video to social media on Friday, inviting “Adrienne from Brooklyn” to visit his new exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, a collection of his photographs from when the Beatles first arrived in the U.S. in the early 1960s. McCartney’s video begins with a black-and-white CBS News clip from 1964, with an emotional young girl saying, “Paul McCartney, if you are listening, Adrienne from Brooklyn loves you with all her heart!” @paulmccartney And Adrienne from Brooklyn if you are listening, Paul McCartney from Liverpool loves you too 60 years after The Beatles arrived in New York on their first trip to America, Paul’s photographic record of ‘Beatlemania’ is now on display at @Brooklyn Museum ! I’m in Brooklyn now, I’m in New York, I finally got here. We got an exhibition, a photo exhibition. Come along and see it.” The singer-songwriter added in the caption, “Adrienne from Brooklyn, if you are listening, Paul McCartney from Liverpool loves you too.” McCartney’s new collection, titled “Eyes of the Storm,” features more than 250 photographs he took on his personal Pentax camera when the Beatles made their first visit to the States in 1964 and stopped in NYC. Now on display until Aug. 18, the exhibition offers an unprecedented look into what it was like for the band at the height of “Beatlemania,” being constantly hounded by fans and paparazzi who wanted a glimpse of the international superstars. Yet the images also record The Beatles’ fun and delight with each other.” While some commenters joked that McCartney’s invitation to Adrienne on Friday was a “bit late” — about six decades too late — the full interview from 1964 featured a promise from Adrienne that suggested otherwise. “I love the Beatles and I’ll always love them,” Adrienne says in the extended clip. “Even when I’m 105 and an old grandmother, I’ll love ’em.”
