LINCOLN–(KFOR May 3)–Sunday marks the running of the 47th Lincoln Marathon and Lincoln Police, along with help from the Nebraska State Patrol airwing, will be out patrolling along the race route. Their top priority is the safety and concern for the race participants, volunteers and spectators. Lincoln Police Captain Mike Woolman says you should be vigilant and contact officers, if you see something suspicious. “Our officers will be working at the start and finish lines, along the course, to manage traffic and monitor the crowds,” Woolman added.   Police want you to be familiar with the race route, if you have to be at church or some place important when the marathon is happening. (Courtesy of the Lincoln Track Club) Saturday will also mark the 37th annual KFRX Mayor’s Run around the State Capitol.  Six heats of the mile-long run will feature grade school children participating.  There are some street closures to keep in mind throughout the weekend.
