LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY (ABC 36 NEWS NOW): Good Sunday evening everyone, it has been a warm and sunny day across the Bluegrass. We got more of that into the week ahead but a couple thunderstorm chances to go along with it. Monday is another mainly dry day with temperatures into the low 80s. I can’t rule out a stray storm during the afternoon, but most stay dry through this time. Heading off into Monday night though, thunderstorms increase across the area. Rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorms will then last through the day on Tuesday with temperatures in the 70s. Rain moves out Tuesday evening and that sets us up for a dry and warm Wednesday with afternoon highs in the low 80s. Winds will be breezy as well. Thursday is likely our warmest day of the week as high pressure and a strong southwest wind takes control. That will bring high temperatures on Thursday into the low to mid 80s with some upper 80s possible in spots. Now we have arrived to Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby time and everyone wants to know the forecast for these two days. Some changes are still likely to show up in the forecast since we are several days out, but right now Friday (Oaks Day) looks pretty wet and stormy across Kentucky, including Churchill Downs in Louisville. It won’t rain the entire day, but as of now have the rain gear ready to take with you. Derby Day itself looks to see rain and storms around during the morning. BUT… IMPROVING conditions by the afternoon in time for the big race with temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s. As always, stay with the ABC 36 Storm Team on-air and online for updates through it all. #kywx Categories: Featured, Local Weather Headlines, Storm Team Weather Blog, Weather, Weather Forecast Tags: ABC, ABC 36, ABC 36 Storm Team, ABC 36 Storm Team Forecast, Kentucky Derby forecast, Kentucky weather, Meteorologist Jordan Smith, Storm Chances, Warm Temperatures
