Hopefully you were able to get outside and enjoy the comfortable weather on Saturday. Despite a few downpours in the afternoon, both Muncie and Shelbyville surpassed the 80° mark yesterday. Most areas had highs in the upper 70s, meaning temperatures were running more than 10° above average for late April! You can expect another unseasonably warm day for central Indiana as temperatures reach the lower 80s. We have the high set for 82° in Indianapolis this afternoon, which is four degrees shy of the record for the date (86°). The area is going to stay dry today with partly sunny skies and strong winds out of the southwest. The near-record warmth is not going to last much longer because an inbound storm system will bring a drop in temperatures and our next round of rain. It is the same storm complex producing a large-scale severe weather outbreak for the Central Plains and Mississippi Valley. Tornado reports were concentrated over Oklahoma on Saturday. There is another risk for severe weather west of Indiana today. Severe weather is not expected for the Hoosier State tonight and Monday. However, a passing cold front will trigger scattered showers and a few thunderstorms throughout the day. The rain and additional cloud cover will keep temperatures in the lower to mid-70s tomorrow afternoon. Up to a half inch of rain is possible. Highs are going to quickly recover by midweek as highs approach the 80s by Wednesday and Thursday.
