FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) has one in custody following a chase after receiving reports of a stolen Parkview Police vehicle Friday evening. According to Officer John Nichter, a public information officer with the FWPD, officers received reports of a stolen marked Parkview Police SUV. FWPD officers were able to locate the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop but were unsuccessful, leading officers in a high-speed chase. FWPD officers utilized stop sticks to deflate several tires leading the car to come to a stop as it entered I-469 northbound. The driver of the vehicle did not cooperate with the officer's orders to exit the vehicle. This led to tactical officers using tear gas to enter the vehicle to retrieve the suspect. The individual was arrested unharmed. At no time during the chase did the driver of the stolen police vehicle use emergency lights or sirens. FWPD did not clarify what hospital location the Parkview Police vehicle was taken from nor where the attempted traffic stop happened. WANE 15 did reach out to Parkview but they were not able to comment due to the ongoing investigation.
