Bismarck, ND (KXNET) — The North Dakota Petroleum Foundation (NDPF) received its largest donation ever in honor of the upcoming Arbor Day holiday. Chord Energy donated $50,000 to the North Dakota Petroleum Foundation (NDPF) in honor of Arbor Day, which is set for April 29, 2024. The donation will support the Planting for the Future Program, which is dedicated to enhancing and improving habitat by planting trees throughout North Dakota. The Planting for the Future program was established in 2018, and since then, has planted more than 354,000 trees in North Dakota This spring, the NDPF expects to plant more than 161,000 trees, bringing the total number of trees planted in the past seven years over half a million. WFD works with ND Forest Service in controlled burns “We are appreciative and humbled by Chord Energy’s support for our organization,” said Tessa Sandstrom, Executive Director for the NDPF. “Our Planting for the Future has become one of our largest programs. Tree planting is already underway this spring and Chord’s donation will ensure we can continue to build meaningful habitat for future generations.” These projects will help provide watershed protection, protection for crops, soil and livestock, and serve as habitat for future generations.
