MINOT, ND (KXNET) — The Minot Fire Department (MFD) says its new Helmets for Heroes program will launch on April 28. The Helmets for Heroes program was developed to show children enduring hard times that they have the support of the MFD and are not alone. The Helmets for Heroes program will recognize these children as heroes in the Minot community. “Everyday heroes make the world a better place,” said MFD Chief Kelli Kronschnabel. “Minot is full of these everyday heroes, and we thought this would be a great way to recognize them.” Minot Fire Department granted funds for new reserve firetruck Children who are selected for the program will be given a decommissioned fire helmet, as a symbol of MFD's support. Nomination forms can be found on the MFD webpage. To nominate a child: Fill out the nomination form Fill out the media release form Mail or drop them off at Fire Station# 1 or email it to Chad Sickles at chad.sickles@minotnd.gov Nominations will be accepted year-round, with recipient recognition ceremonies held during council meetings on or near National Superhero Day (April 28) and National Hero Day (October 8).
