(WASHINGTON COUNTY, Colo.) — New video from FOX21 Storm Team Meteorologist Ryan Matoush shows a confirmed tornado touching down near Akron, Colorado on Thursday afternoon, April 25.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the tornado was confirmed at 3:27 p.m. on Thursday, 13 miles southwest of Akron. The tornado was reportedly moving northeast at 25 mph.

The tornado was capable of producing damaging winds, and a tornado warning was issued for Washington County. That warning has since been downgraded to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, according to the NWS.

The warning is in effect until 4:45 p.m. Thursday, with quarter size hail possible. People in the area should take steps to protect themselves, their pets, and property.
