Harbor East is adding Alo Yoga to its list of eco-friendly and sophisticated spaces, as the lifestyle brand expects to open a 4,100-square-foot Alo Sanctuary store at the end of 2024. Tim O’Donald, president of Harbor East Management Group, announced that Alo Yoga signed a lease for the store at the northwest corner of Aliceanna and South Exeter streets. The brand specializes in luxury activewear and is known for its “studio to street” performance apparel. It sells activewear and fashion for men, women, and unisex styles including top-tier yoga clothing, activewear, lounge pieces, and day-to-night outfits. Alo is an acronym for air, land, and ocean, and was founded in 2007 in Los Angeles with the mission of “bringing the transformative power of mindfulness, movement, and wellness to the world, with a community of like-minded advocates and influential communities worldwide,” reads the press release. The company has always been eco-aware and sweatshop-free, using sustainable practices in their W.R.A.P. Certified facilities. There are 65 Alo Sanctuaries in the United States, and more than 80 worldwide. “It’s natural that Alo would select Baltimore’s Harbor East as the location for its first Maryland store,” O’Donald said in a statement. “The neighborhood’s curated collection of prominent national brands and unique local businesses provides an upscale experience for shopping, dining, living, and working. We’re excited for our community’s residents, employees, and visitors to experience the connections, movement, and wellness that the new Alo Sanctuary will offer.” Other recent announcements about additions to Harbor East include the luxury mattress retailer Saatva opening a viewing room; Pandora jewelry company opening a flagship store on Fleet Street last year; and The Ruxton Steakhouse, which opened in Fall 2023.
