California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation According to police, the white SUV being driven by Caldera was struck by a passing train. Caldera was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities at the time of the crash said that there were crossing arms at the railroad crossing and were unsure exactly how the collision occurred.
