NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Lowcountry resident Randy Woods, like many others, is glad to see more people enjoying the Park Circle area after its renovations. Woods and his father travel through Park Circle often for work and watch as the area was renovated into a beautiful community asset – but there’s a problem. “Since they did all the renovations on the park, there are a lot more people doing fitness things, and I’ve experienced that they don’t pay attention when crossing Durant, South Rhett and Montague,” he said. “They just don’t pay attention at all when they’ve got their earbuds in.” Woods says he has seen several close calls. “Very near misses. They almost ran into the side of my car. They will almost seem like they’re stopping, but then they just keep on going and with all the distractions to your left, it’s very easy to get distracted,” he said. “Not always saying it’s runners and baby pusher faults, I just don’t know what could be done, but something needed to be brought to attention.” He added, “I just think someone’s gonna get smashed. And I’m surprised they haven’t yet.” Woods just wants to see everyone staying safe in the circle. “When they get there, especially when they have their earplugs in or a group of people, just to be super cautious. And kids- there’s a lot more kids running around, just be more cautious and watch out for the cars, because they might not see you.” The bottom line: Woods just wants to see people being a little more careful when in the Park Circle area.
