GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities are searching for a 28-year-old man in connection with a deadly shooting at an Andrews apartment. Georgetown County deputies responded to the Arbor Place Apartments Wednesday night and located a gunshot victim. Investigators say Tyrese Epps was visiting a female resident at the apartment complex off N. Beech Street when the woman’s former boyfriend, Jamar Edward McClary, came to the apartment and a confrontation ensued between the two men. Epps told law enforcement that McClary threatened to shoot him and reached for a firearm in his pocket; however, Epps drew his firearm and fired the first shot. While the coroner's office has not publicly identified the victim, officials with the sheriff's office said the individual was taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead. Man dies in shooting at Georgetown County apartment complex Authorities said a third person who was waiting downstairs is suspected of shooting into the apartment after witnessing the incident between Epps and McClary. That person, 28-year-old Jazwon Gamble, is wanted on attempted murder charges. Investigators spoke with witnesses, reviewed surveillance footage from the apartment complex and collected physical evidence, including McClary’s firearm. They said Epps also came to the sheriff’s office to surrender his gun and give a statement. Upon reviewing the facts of the case with the Deputy Solicitor of the 15th Judicial District, the solicitor determined circumstances fall under the “Stand Your Ground” law. Although the investigation is ongoing, the sheriff’s office said that based on current information and evidence, no charges will be filed against Epps.
