FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS) hosted a job fair at North Side High School Tuesday afternoon in an effort to fill teacher vacancies within the district. According to FWCS, the district is looking to fill nearly 100 teacher vacancies for the 2024-2025 school year. Potential applicants were able to learn about the available jobs within FWCS and meet with principals and other district staff members. Kody Tinnel, manager of strategic projects for FWCS's human resources department, said April represents the early part of the hiring period, and the job fair allows the school district to get ahead in the process. "It's an opportunity for us to scoop us as many teachers looking for employment for the next school year so we can lock those positions in and start the year off right," Tinnel said. The potential applicants ranged from students about to graduate college with a degree in education or veteran teachers looking to switch districts, Tinnel said.
