TOPEKA (KSNT) - Local officials are reporting storm damage from severe weather in areas across two northeast Kansas counties. A stormfront rolling through northeast Kansas on April 15-16 has caused localized damage in Osage and Shawnee Counties. Many were left without power following the storm. National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologists are currently assessing the damage caused by the storm and possible tornadic activity. The NWS station in Topeka confirms its meteorologists are surveying damage near the town of Overbrook and a possible tornado sighting near the town of Richland. The NWS posted to social media around 10:45 a.m. on April 16 stating that a survey team has discovered damage from a tornado in far southeast Shawnee County and far northeast Osage County. More information on its path and EF rating will be released once the survey is complete. Dusty Nichols with Shawnee County Emergency Management says there is damage reports from SE 105th Street and SE Dupont Road. Two local homes have damage to their roofs with some trees uprooted.
