The City of Lexington is offering a free trash disposal day Saturday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bluegrass Regional Transfer Station on Old Frankfort Pike. Lauren Monahan is an environmental initiatives specialist with Lexington’s Division of Waste Management. “This event in particular is designed to give an option for those who might be doing like a larger clean out who may not have city waste collection normally. We’re taking regular household waste.” Monahan said people with hazardous household waste will have an opportunity for free drop-offs May 11. She said at events like Saturday’s, they typically accept 20 to 30 tons of household waste. “Any regular household bagged waste up to a pickup or trailer load full of that, any other household furniture you might have. We’ll take that, mattresses and up to four tires that are off of the rim.” A Fayette County driver’s license is needed for free drop-offs Saturday.
