JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) - Dominion Energy will temporarily close portions of Fort Johnson Road on James Island starting Monday, April 15. Dominion Energy says the closure will be to rebuild the electrical transmission line in the area. Crews will work from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on weekdays and some weekends on Fort Johnson Road between Secessionville Road and Folly Road. Officials say signage will be installed along Fort Johnson Rd and nearby streets to identify detours. "This project will increase the reliability and resiliency of this line and relocate several structures to accommodate planned road construction at the intersection of Fort Johnson Road and Secessionville Road," said officials with Dominion Energy. Officials say this project is in cooperation with the South Carolina Department of Transportation and local law enforcement. Road work from Secessionville Road to Folly Road will be completed this spring and construction will resume in the fall.
