LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Happy Friday everyone! It’s going to be another chilly day across the bluegrass. A few showers are possible, especially early in the day for easter Kentucky, with a flakes possibly mixing in for the higher elevations. Temperatures will struggle to reach the mid-to-upper 40s by the afternoon thanks to stubborn cloud cover. Heading to Keeneland today for the first day of the Spring Meet? You can expect mostly cloudy skies with a stray shower possible during the midday. By the end of the afternoon you can expect a few peaks of sunshine possible. Dress for chilly temperatures and don’t be surprised to see some light rain. Frost and freeze alerts are out for tonight. That is due to temperatures dropping below freezing overnight. The growing season has officially begun across the region as of this week, that’s why this is the first time this year we’ve had any frost or freeze alerts. Temperatures will be improving Saturday afternoon after the cold start to the day. Afternoon highs will be pushing the mid-to-upper 50s on Saturday. Temperatures improve even more on Sunday, but that will be followed by rain chances late in the day. Rain is looking more likely overnight Sunday into early Monday morning, than during the day on Sunday. Storms will be possible as well, the stronger storms likely in western Kentucky than here locally.
