A teenager was stabbed in the right leg amid a gathering of what police believe to have been more than 100 people near Temple University late Monday night.   In an email sent to Temple students late Monday night, Vice President for Public Safety and Chief of Police Jennifer Griffin wrote that Temple University Police and Philadelphia Police responded to the gathering around 9:10 p.m.  “While the gathering was initially orderly, it became disruptive as it grew, and a stabbing subsequently occurred” Griffin said.  Preliminary reports suggest the victim is a 15-year-old boy. He was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. Police have not revealed his condition.   A person of interest has been identified and taken into custody by the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD).   The PPD is leading the investigation into this incident, and Temple University Police are working in close coordination.   Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the PPD tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477), Central Detectives at 215-686-3093, or Temple’s Investigations Unit at 215-204-6200 or Temple Police at 215-204-1234. ...read more read less
