es in the Husker athletic department to not schedule any games with Texas Tech, after a court ruling in Texas on Monday granted temporary injunction to let a Red Raider football player play this upcoming season, following an NCAA suspension for betting on college sports.
A staff member of Dannen’s sent out a text message Monday to Nebraska coaches to “connect with Troy” if they had scheduled any contests with Texas Tech.
The judge granted Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby a temporary injunction that will let him still play football this upcoming season, even though he was declared ineligible by the NCAA. Sorsby apparently made bets on his own team while he was at Indiana. The Monday ruling set shock waves across college sports, since bans for gambling are a bedrock rule of the NCAA and many professional sports.
The NCAA announced they strongly disagree with the ruling and are planning to appeal the decision.
