Timothy Sowinski, 57, was pronounced deceased after being found unresponsive at the United States Penitentiary in Florence on Sunday morning, according to a news release by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Sowinski was serving a 13-month sentence in Florence to run consecutive to a 71-month prison term after a bank robbery conviction and violating conditions of his probation, according to federal court documents. He robbed separate banks in 2018 and 2022 of around $5,000 total. The sentencing order in January also issued additional terms for Sowinski’s imprisonment, including incarcerating him at the Bureau of Prisons’ medical facility to receive maintenance on psychotropic medications.
