(KRON) – The San Jose Police Department held a gun buyback event on Friday and reported collecting 350 firearms and 21 assault weapons. The initiative was held at the San Jose Police Department substation and was open to all residents of Santa Clara County. Non-functional firearms and ammunition were also turned in for proper disposal. An Uzi machine gun, a rocket-launcher, and assault rifles were among weapons voluntarily handed in by local residents in exchange for cash at San Jose’s gun buyback event in 2023.
