HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The drunken raccoon saga isn't over yet! The Downtown Ashland Association has launched "The Great Raccoon Hunt" after the tiny, furry animal ransacked an Ashland ABC store last week and passed out drunk in the store's bathroom. After the incident went viral nationall y and internationally, the raccoon quickly became a local sensation — with a growing fan base. Residents flocked to the Ashland ABC store, Virginia ABC launched a campaign in his honor and Hanover County has raised nearly $100,000 in "Trashed Panda" t-shirt sales. Now, The Great Raccoon Hunt is inviting visitors, raccoon enthusiasts and the community to search for a small raccoon sticker hidden in local Ashland businesses. Residents can participate in the hunt from Tuesday, Dec. 9, through the end of the year. Once participants find a sticker in each shop, they can snap a photo, tag @AshlandVirginia on Instagram and scan a QR code at the register to enter a holiday prize drawing. Organizers said the idea came from Collette Maranda, owner of Ashland Dance Academy and 110 Thompson. The hunt will conclude on New Year's Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 31.
