Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker will visit several churches in the city on Sunday, Dec. 7, to discuss her $2 billion H.O.M.E. housing initiative, her office announced. Plans for the first year of the H.O.M.E. program have been up for debate, with the Philadelphia City Council and many activis ts wanting the initial money to go toward the city’s most vulnerable residents and clearing the lines to get into affordable housing units. However, Mayor Parker’s administration has said it also wants to see funds used to help middle class families who “have just a little bit.” The City Council wants the budget approved by the end of the year, and the City Council’s last meeting is scheduled for Dec. 11. Parker will deliver remarks at three churches.
