IDENTIFIED: 2 killed in wrongway crash on Fresno highway

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The two people who were killed following a wrong-way crash on a Fresno highway over the weekend have been named, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The two victims, 64-year-old Paul Weldon from Fresno and 73-year-old Mariana Perez Tinajero from Selma, collided head-on after officers say Weldon was driving the wrong way on Highway 99.
Officers say Weldon was driving a car northbound on the southbound lane of Highway 99 and collided with the truck Tinajero was in south of Shaw Avenue. The two vehicles then collided with a third vehicle driven by a 26-year-old man.
The two victims of the crash, 64-year-old Paul Weldon from Fresno and 73-year-old Mariana Perez Tinajero from Selma, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Five others inside the truck were taken to the hospital for various injuries. The 26-year-old driving the third vehicle was released at the scene with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
