AUSTIN (KXAN) — Los Angeles Rams receiver and kick returner Jordan Whittington may as well have burnt orange blood pumping through his veins. The former Longhorns star receiver, Cuero native and fan favorite on the 40 Acres wants everyone to know where he went to school with a Texas Longhorns logo printed on one of his thigh pads. His initials "JW" are on the other. hardly home but always repping 🤘 pic.twitter.com/nBC4Xb2Gfs— Los Angeles Rams (@RamsNFL) December 29, 2024 He's had the logo on his leg for the past few games, but it's more defined when the Rams are wearing their gold pants. He had the logo on his pad when the Rams took on the New York Jets on Dec. 22, it's just a little harder to see. (AP Photo/Adam Hunger) Like he was at Texas, Whittington has been a jack-of-all-trades for the Rams in his rookie season. Going into Saturday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, he's hauled in 18 passes for 201 yards with 13 kickoff returns for 340 yards. He's also made four tackles and recovered a fumble on special teams. Whittington played five years for the Longhorns, amassing 1,586 yards on 123 catches with five touchdowns in 37 career games. While other players had more catches, yardage or touchdowns, Whittington's heart, hustle and effort made up for it, and it earned his respect and admiration from all Longhorn fans. He showed his grit after a Quinn Ewers interception against TCU last season, chasing down Horned Frogs defensive back Millard Bradford and stripping the ball from behind during the return. Xavier Worthy recovered the fumble, the Longhorns regained possession and Texas went on to win 29-26. Whittington was a sixth-round pick (No. 213 overall) by the Rams in the 2024 NFL Draft.
