Gasolinefueled fire damages apartment building in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) -- An apartment building in Norfolk caught fire Friday evening.
At approximately 6:10 p.m., Norfolk Fire-Rescue was dispatched to 4331 Dunning Road in reference to a residential structure fire. There were reports of fire in the back of the house.
Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire in the back of 4335A Dunning Road, involving several outbuildings and trees.

The fire was fueled by a large amount of gasoline in a work area.
Crews used water and foam to gain control of the fire, which was obtained by 6:40 p.m.
The main residence had exterior siding melted that was cooled with water and smoke entered the residence. Crews checked for any extension inside and there was none found.
It is still unclear if occupants of apartment A will be displaced due to water damage or if Red Cross assistance is needed.
Fire Marshals are on scene investigating the cause of the fire.
