Welfare check leads to arrest, illegal weapons found at Starmount Ln home: Bakersfield PD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A man was arrested for illegal possession of multiple firearms, high capacity magazines and drugs following a welfare check Thursday, according to Bakersfield police.
Officers were dispatched to a home on Starmount Lane in a neighborhood near Stockdale Highway and Gosford Road at around 8 a.m. after a family member called to check on a man inside, officials said.

The man, Steven Kirkpatrick, 35, surrendered to officers awaiting outside the home. A search inside turned up a pistol with a suppressor, a disassembled AR-15 rifle, high capacity magazines and illegal medications.
Kirkpatrick was taken into custody and booked into the Lerdo jail on multiple felony firearms charges and misdemeanor drug charges. He is due in court on Monday.
